One Piece: The Fate Of Charlotte Pudding, Explained (2024)

Charlotte Pudding is the daughter of Big Mom and an unnamed member of the Three-Eye tribe. For the majority of her life, Pudding has been living on Whole Cake Island along with her brothers and sisters. Big Mom's territory has a great deal of diversity, and most of the races live in relative harmony. However, the place is not ideal for all the One Piece races. Some of the populace in Totto Land do not shy away from ridiculing other races.

One of the most discriminated against races is the Three-Eye tribe. As the name suggests, the people belonging to this race have three eyes instead of two. Throughout Pudding's flashback, almost everyone was making fun of her third eye, including Big Mom, but that is not surprising as she is not a stranger to attacking and killing people who are extremely close to her. Luckily for Pudding, Big Mom wanted to use her for the unique ability of the Three-Eye Tribe.

The Power To Read Poneglyphs

One Piece: The Fate Of Charlotte Pudding, Explained (1)

The members of the Three-Eye Tribe can potentially awaken the power to decipher the phone eclipse. This is, of course, a very special ability to have as there are only a handful of people who can analyze what is written on the Poneglyphs. Due to this ability, the members of the Three-Eye Tribe are very highly sought after. So far, in the series, the only known person belonging to this tribe is Charlotte Pudding. It is plausible to assume that the other members of this particulate clan were executed by the World Government as they posed a threat to their authority.

During the Whole Cake Island arc, Pudding had not awakened the ability to read the Poneglyphs, but her meeting with Sanji gave her more confidence. In the most recent chapters, she did not try her third eye, which means that she took Sanji's words seriously and she has more belief than before. So, with her newfound confidence, it is completely possible that she has awakened her latent power, in which case, she would be invaluable to any crew who wants to reach Laugh Tale or learn about the true history of the world.

In the cover stories of the previous chapters, it was implied that Whole Cake Island was under attack by someone other than the Germa Kingdom. On a closer inspection, it looked as if Charlotte Cracker had been frozen. This narrowed down the list of suspects, as there is only one person, who has the power to manipulate ice freely, and that person is Aokiji. In the subsequent chapter, it was confirmed that Whole Cake Island had indeed been attacked by the Blackbeard Pirates, and Pudding had been kidnapped by them.

In chapter 1064, it was confirmed that Charlotte Pudding is now a prisoner of the Blackbeard Pirates. She was taken away by Kuzan and Van Augur. The combination of their abilities would have made it extremely easy for the duo to complete their mission and escape without any casualties.

There is every chance that the two pirates also stole Big Mom's Road Poneglyph. If they did steal the Poneglyph, and they defeated the Heart Pirates, the Blackbeard Pirates would have three Road Poneglyphs, which would put them on the same number as the Straw Hat Pirates. This would connect nicely to the idea of Blackbeard being Luffy's final opponent, as currently, Luffy has three Road Poneglyphs.

The Blackbeard Pirates are known for being very ruthless toward their opponents. They have killed many people in their hunt for devil fruits. So, the incident does not bode well for Pudding. The most ideal scenario for her would be that the Blackbeard Pirates let her go after she deciphers the Poneglyphs for them. However, the chances of Pudding having a favorable ending are low. She will probably be disposed of once she helps them to get what they want. Unless some other crew intervenes and defeats the Blackbeard Pirates it won't be possible for Pudding to escape with her life.

The most obvious answer would be that the Straw Hat pirates would fight the Blackbeard Pirates in the future, rescuing Pudding in the process. According to certain fans, Oda is teasing a possible matchup between Sanji and Kuzan, considering the latter played a crucial role in Pudding's kidnapping. However, there is little to no chance of this fight happening as Sanji is way below Aokiji's level, at least for now. In the future, if he manages to reach the level of an Admiral then the matchup would definitely be more interesting. The fight between the two would be a huge test for Sanji and his fiery fighting style. If Sanji defeats Aokiji and rescues Pudding then a marriage between them seems inevitable.

So far, Pudding is the only woman with whom Sanji was comfortable enough to express himself, and it doesn't seem that Sanji will end up with Robin or Nami, as the Straw Hats are more or less a family. This leaves Pudding as the only logical option. However, it is still too early to say what is going to happen to Pudding considering the Blackbeard Pirates are under attack. The fans will have to wait for the subsequent chapters to see what happens to Charlotte Pudding.
